When the May family took over Freshfields in 2001 they had a vision to create a care home, ‘home from home’! a care home where family, friendship and love is at the heart of everything and where the care provided isn’t just good, it’s exceptional!
20 years on and it is clear that this vision has become a reality. Freshfields has become so much more than a care home, it has become a home, full of care.
There is no hierarchy between staff and residents. Residents are treated with respect, shown patience, listened to and looked after, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
An emphasis is put on entertaining and stimulating the residents. Regular visits from singers, performers, musicians, choirs, schools, chiropodists, hair and beauty professionals as well as offering themed days, in house pantomimes and performances and days out, ensure that no two days are the same.
Many of the Freshfields staff have been part of the ‘Freshfields family’ for over half a decade and the general staff turnover is very low. A low staff turnover supports a happy, content team and shows that they love what they do and if they love what they do, work no longer becomes work it becomes care and this is why many of our staff refer to the residents as an extension of their own family.
Whilst the care home offers exceptional care, there is continuous drive to keep improving. This is achieved through listening – listening to our staff, listening to our residents and listening to their families. We regularly consult industry regulators and professionals to ensure we are at the forefront of providing professional care.
The May family feel they have created a care home where families can rest assured they haven’t just made a good decision but they have made the best decision.
