Covid-19 and Visiting

During these unprecedented, difficult times, we wish to ensure you that we are still open for new admissions: respite and permanent stays.
All admissions new and returning are PCR tested prior to admission and a negative result is required. If testing positive, we cannot admit for a further 28 days.
New admissions have all their care and needs met whilst residing in their own accommodation for the first 14 days. We offer a wide range of social visits and have ways for residents to keep in touch with their loved ones. We are a small family caring home, and we believe close contact is very important for all families. We balance visits with risk and have in place infection control protocols to keep resident’s, staff and visitors safe, which is paramount.

As we move through the Covid pandemic at Freshfields, we continue to work with the latest government guidelines, combined with our own risk assessments. At present, each resident can have 5 named nominated visitors. Visits need to be pre-booked with the office. We are pleased to confirm our time slots are 90 minutes to allow for LFD testing beforehand. We have a designated visitors’ room and separate garden room for LFD testing. We supply full PPE for safety. We also have a visitors’ pod, open to everyone with its own sound system and separate entrance. There is no direct contact, but you can see each other via a screen. You do not need to be a nominated visitor or be LFD tested to use the visitor’s pod at Freshfields, however an appointment must be pre-booked with the office and facial masks must be worn at all times. Resident’s also stay connected by telephone, FaceTime and window visits. During the pandemic, we have strived to promote regular contact, as we believe family and friendship is important for everyone’s well-being.

Freshfields is a family owned residential care home and is conveniently located in Upminster Essex. The Proprietors acquired Freshfields in May 2001. We are only 5 minutes drive from the M25/A127 junction and close to all the local amenities. We have parking facilities and are a short walk from the local shops and parkland. Transport links are excellent to the home by bus, rail and car.

The majority of our experienced staff, including the Care Manager, have worked for many years providing residential care with a difference to its residents, some with dementia and the end of life. Staff members experience allows them not only to care for the elderly, but understand their health and social care needs and wishes.
We understand that choosing a home for oneself or loved one is a difficult decision that cannot be taken without a great deal of thought and consideration and therefore would be happy to show you around Freshfields at anytime. Please feel free to visit. It is not necessary to make an appointment, as we are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (covid restriction apply). We offer a four week trial period at an agreed rate, depending upon the room and assessed care needs, to decide if it is the best decision.
